Blog Block (II) and Why I Like Blogging

Wow, that was quick. I already don't know what to write about. Actually, I shouldn't say that: I do know, but I'm not in the mood. I'm not breaking the glass on the panic button, nor considering a stop to my blog (not that he is) - but sometimes, I just don't feel like formulating my thoughts completely.

This could all simply be because it's too early in the day; as most of you have probably realized, I tend to post pretty late at night. I find it easiest to think and write at that point.

But in answer to the Bear's question... Yes. I've gained a deeper appreciation for those who can articulate a logical approach why someone would be a staunch Democrat or liberal (or both!); and while I can understand and relate to them, I am more convinced it's not for me (nor most people). At the same time, it's helped me clarify what about the right that bothers me, and be more wary of it - and also what I do like and feel strongly about.

In other words, it has made me think more, and that's really the point. Thankfully, I (believe I) have always thought about issues - but blogging has made me think that much more, whether it be about politics, Judaism, or life. I ran into an old friend, G, in Baltimore a few months back. He noted,
What's great about this [blogging] is that you can see that there are actually other people out there who really think about things. It's comforting to see you're not the only one.
Amen.

  1. Great site, Ezzie, and you're right on target, I believe. The more we hear the opinions of others, the more our views are challenged. This can only lead to better dialogue and mutual understanding. Keep blogging, I'll be reading it.

BTW, I have no glass to break...never thought of putting a post in reserve. Do you have one?

  2. No, I don't have a post in reserve. It's interesting that he used it within 3 days. Blogging by definition does not generally lead to having stuff 'in reserve'...

  3. I also do my best writing late at night and think about stopping blogging more often than I did even a month ago...

  4. Ezzie,

On the right vs. left vein... This joke was sent to me today... I think you'll like it.

A woman in a hot air balloon realized she was lost. She lowered her altitude and spotted a man in a boat below.

She shouted to him, "Excuse me, can you help me? I promised a friend I would meet him an hour ago, but I don't know where I am."

The man consulted his portable GPS and replied, "You're in a hot air balloon, approximately 30 feet above a ground elevation of 2346 feet above sea level. You are at 31 degrees, 14.97 minutes north latitude and 100 degrees, 49.09 minutes west longitude."

She rolled her eyes and said, "You must be a Republican."

"I am," replied the man. "How did you know?"

"Well," answered the balloonist, "everything you told me is technically correct, but I have no idea what to do with your information, and I'm still lost. Frankly, you've not been much help to me."

The man smiled and responded, "You must be a Democrat."

"I am," replied the balloonist. "How did you know?"

"Well," said the man, "you don't know where you are or where you're going. You've risen to where you are, due to a large quantity of hot air. You made a promise that you have no idea how to keep, and you expect me to solve your problem. You're in exactly the same position you were in before we met, but, somehow, now it's my fault."
