(Hat tip: Lauren) Personally, I think that this does a really nice job of explaining a few points about kashrus and other Orthodox practices. Hogan's family really went out of their way to be considerate to their neighbors, too.
I dont know about you guys but I luv the Hulk!Always watched him smash chairs on the other wrestlers since i was a kid.I'm gonna post this clip on my blog..of course with a hat tip,Ezzie.
And what blows me away is that the Hulk and his family are really cool with accomdating the kosher crowd...
But really,Miami Jews must be very cool...if the Hulk would invite people from NY ,I dont know if they would show up "Mareis Ayin " or some other crap.
I haven't watched the entire video but I wonder if they would be acting differently were they not "acting" for a reality TV show?
i.e. It seems to me that going around to the new neighbours who all just happen to be frum and have them politely refuse since the food isn't kosher just seems like a typical setup you find on all reality shows.
However, I had a problem with the guy at Kosher World saying that Kosher means that the animal is killed in a way that they feel no pain. He said they feel no pain, not less pain, and even if he stated less pain that would have been a falsehood. I do not think that cutting an animal’s through can be described as painless. There is a broad consensus that stunning animals before slaughter would reduce their pain, something halacha does not allow.
This is the most entertaining video I have ever seen. I am not sure why but I am absolutely fascinated by this. I am really proud of the jewish people (men especially) and how they behaved. Real kiddush hashem. The rav who rejected the handshake and explained it in such a cool way rocks. A lot of people screw up when it comes to the hand shake because they don't know how to explain it, this guy handled it perfectly.
i give kudos to hulk and his family. they all could have been like "what a bunch of whacko freaks, what the hell is kosher? forget about that, man" and instead they went out of their way to find out what their neighbors were talking about, and even though they didn't quite get the full story (not their fault, either, from what i can tell) they still made a huge effort to have everyone included at their party, with ordering in catered kosher food that everyone could eat. i also liked the "kosher hug" explanation---so cute! -hila
Shlomo Sprung! He was my bro's roomate in Ner. This thing is everywhere!
ReplyDeleteOh my Lord, really? This is hilarious. What the heck is the Hulk doing in a frum neighborhood in Miami?

ReplyDeleteMordyS - You're like Serach. You know too many people.
ReplyDeleteEK - That's what I was wondering!
Jacob - Yeah, I noticed that, too. I think that's true everywhere outside of NY, basically.
NYFunnyMan - True.
I thought it was a hoot!
