Some good stuff out there I noticed over the weekend, besides all the Orthomom hubbub: (from lighter to heavier going down)
Finally, read this post by DAG. How can anyone celebrate something that so starkly reminds them of their own loss?
- Sarah's mom's surgery went well!
- It's nice to have AbbaGav back.
- Do some good at Treppenwitz.
- SIW notes that sometimes, the journalists are the ones creating the news.
- Harry discusses objectifying women and mixed seating.
- DAG notes who the worst people are.
- Sephardi Lady questions when we should be tipping for mitzvos. I've often wondered about some of these - people get insulted if you do or don't tip, and it's confusing as to when a person should.
- Shoshana discusses the narrowing of what the Torah wants according to some... and how that seems to ruin the point.
- DovBear has a related and sad post from a 13-year old: How yeshiva destroyed him.
- I really enjoyed this post of Irina, talking about the failure of the Marketplace of Ideas. Very intriguing.
- R' Gil has an excellent (and rare opinion) post on empowering women and separate bussing. A must-read.
at least you got pizza!
ReplyDeletethanks for links..first doesnt send to my blog :-)
ReplyDeleteYou work for the wrong firm, my firm closes for the weekend and Monday ;o)
ReplyDeleteI only do small amounts of work and ended up working yesterday. Oh well.
ReplyDeleteI remember my first job where they declared casual on Friday. So I came in a nice skirt and sweater and was reminded it was casual Friday. Thought I was casual when I left the suit at home. At least your job is descriptive of what casual is. :) Ah, days gone by.
R&A - :P
ReplyDeleteDAG - I'll fix it... maybe. :)
Rescue - LOL. I'm sure there are some other perks in our favor... :)
SL - Ha! Yeah, that was happening to some of the frum women yesterday a bit. Nu nu.
At my current job there are casual Fridays and everyone wears jeans. Everyone but me, that is, because like you I don't own a pair. I've been debating if I should buy jeans just to wear to work on Fridays.
ReplyDeleteJewboy - I'm probably going to buy a couple pairs sometime, anyway. I could probably use them. Worse comes to worst, I'll have 'em for next year.
ReplyDelete...assuming they still fit.
ReplyDeletewell,
ReplyDelete1. your firm requires more billable hours
2. workspaces are more cramped
3. 2 manager to an office
I've got all those beat. Although your meal allowance is a lot better than my firms, and you have mincha/maariv in the office. I'll have to give you those, other than that...I don't know. (although I have some friends there that are very happy, so it can't be such a bad place
