Pain

Not having a computer of our own (for a week and counting now) is one of the most painful experiences of my life. (Thank God.)

I want y'all to try and imagine going that long without one - and I don't mean voluntarily, I mean when you need one but don't have one. Grr.

  1. My heart aches for you.
One day you will be a wealth hedge-find manager and will buy an iphone/blackberry.

  3. At least you get to meet rather, uh, interesting people who need to concentrate waaaay too hard just to print things out if you go to the library to use their computers.

  5. You have my sympathy. The last time my ancient computer decided not to function, I was stuck with my husband's previous laptop, which takes 10 minutes just to boot up, until the repair person whipped that antique desktop of mine back into shape.

Advice from someone who's been there and done that: Buy yourself an external hard drive, and back up *everything.* Religiously. To the best of my knowledge, I didn't lose a single file--some dating back to when our 25-year-old son was in elementary school--when my desktop "died."
