Global Warming: Blame Canada

This is great, via Special Ed:
Scientists have found a new threat to the planet: Canadian beer drinkers.

The government-commissioned study says the old, inefficient "beer fridges" that one in three Canadian households use to store their Molson and Labatt's contribute significantly to global warming by guzzling gas- and coal-fired electricity.

"People need to understand the impact of their lifestyles," British environmental consultant Joanna Yarrow tells New Scientist magazine. "Clearly the environmental implications of having a frivolous luxury like a beer fridge are not hitting home. This research helps inform people — let's hope it has an effect."
There's just too much material here to poke fun at.

  1. Whoa, WHoa, WHOA!!

No making fun of LaBatt's beer, got it!
They are forever off limits, after all: "Tonight's Cavaliers basketball game was brought to you by LaBatt's Blue. LaBatt's...it's blue heaven".

  2. Funny.

Does this apply to all "bar fridges" or just the ones in the shape of a beer can?

Pretty soon they'll be noting that REGULAR fridges contribute to global warming and then recommend that we all move to the "ice box".

BTW, a friend of mine has a bar fridge in his dining room so he can have easy access to things for the Shabbos table like pop etc.

  3. G,

Labatt's isn't even Canadian owned anymore.

And, I forgot to mention that my friend's regular fridge is in his kitchen four feet behind him.

And no, he's not a beer drinker.

  4. Those stinkin' Canadians. They are the cause of all that's wrong with this complicated world. I always knew that. Toronto is way too clean to be populated by normal people!
