They say the center is hard to hold. People crave the extremes because it is easier to identify, but most people lighten up as they grow older and learn to compromise. ~ Adapted from a comment by PsychoToddler
A mature person is one who is does not think only in absolutes, who is able to be objective even when deeply stirred emotionally, who has learned that there is both good and bad in all people and all things, and who walks humbly and deals charitably. ~ Eleanor Roosevelt
I sense an Eleanor Roosevelt theme....

ReplyDeletehold on! PsychToddler is dead wrong!
ReplyDeleteAs you get older, you are more set that way, and unable to move/change the views of the world. Teens are very flexible to find their identity.
If you are talking about something eles then please clarify it. Thanx!
S&S - Depends what you mean. While teens are flexible, they are also drawn to more extreme views and approaches. They take conclusions to extremes rather than understanding where the limits of logic are supposed to be.
ReplyDeleteWith maturity comes a greater sense of balance - when ideas apply and when not, what is practical and what is not, what is healthy and what is not, what is garbage and what is not.
