Taking the Plunge

As many other bloggers are doing these days, I've been debating switching to the "new" Blogger. I spent a little while today checking it out, and finally decided I'd bite the bullet, take the plunge, and all that junk... but Blogger said I can't. My blog is "too big". Too many posts and comments, too much, period. (I think they called me 'fat'.) So for now, at least, I shall remain the way I am, and hopefully, by the time I *can* switch, all the kinks will have been worked out. I'm kind of relieved, really.

  1. You realize if you switch all other members of your blog would have to switch, too. And you wouldn't be abke to use any other "old blogs" that you are a part of. That itself is another issue.

  2. Well, I'm the admin on most of the ones I'm on. And I know everyone else would have to - but most don't have blogs of their own, while others are contemplating switching as well...

  3. Rare, thats not exactly right. I switched, and I'm on a couple blogs that are some on the new and some still on the old.

Life of Rubin and Shtus Blog are both functioning on the "new" blogger, but Jewish Connection and Kindness Happens are both on the "old" blogger.

I can access all of my blogs. So I'm able to use both Jewish Connection and Kindness even though I already made the switch.

Ezzie, a couple other things to realize. Even though you "make" the switch, it won't change your template yet. It will convert your blog to the new format, but to update the template to the new blogger code, that is a separate converting process. I haven't done THAT part yet. I'm worried about how my menu bar, in CSS will be affected with the new blogger code.

My blog took 45 minutes to convert. People who are part of a lot of team blogs get transferred last. Maybe cause you are part of so many team blogs your get last priority.

  4. Yeah, I actually did try to do it the other since I was having so much trouble but it told me that my blog is too big also (which was weird, cuz the way they defined big didn't really apply to mine, but maybe when you consider all the blogs I'm a member of). Oh well, for now, I guess I'm an oldie.

  6. I haven't tried to switch, for the simple reason that my Gmail login name is a LOT longer than my Blogger login name! But it seems that I might also have problems switching even if I wanted to try, for I too am part of multiple blogs.

  9. Chaim - I see what you mean. I spent a while yesterday checking out the new template and how it works... certain things I can switch over with ease; others will be much harder.
