Hmmm, I dunno if this should qualify as hero-worthy. Technically, wouldn't air travel leave him more time to learn Torah, both on the plane and with the amount of time saved. And I wouldn't call someone who sold their house to move into an apartment for eruv purposes a hero. Unless they got a good deal for the house.
