Don't think. Thinking is the enemy of creativity. It's self-conscious and anything self-conscious is lousy. You cannot try to do things. You simply must do things. --Ray Bradbury
Don't worry Erachet. Shakespeare is WAY better than any silly Star Wars line. Us English people need to stick together. We can have a cookie and ice cream party in my room.
Moshe, I agree with your reading of the quote. There comes a point at which you can be paralyzed by thinking, because you think too much. Don't avoid thinking altogether, but don't let it get you stuck either.
Rea - it's not dissing per se. There are some good lines in there, I'll give you that. I just have a hard time taking advice from two talking robots, a hairy dog thing, a weird amphibious alien and a girl with a cinnamon bun hairstyle.

ReplyDeleteg - Yup!
I disagree with just about every bit of that statement. Bradbury was a smart guy, but he obviously lived a life very different from my own
ReplyDeleteSorry, Ezzie...no more thinking for you... ;-P

ReplyDeleteCP - I don't think he meant that you should not think. Just be careful that your life is not overcome with thinking as opposed to doing.

Well EXCUSE me! At least I know how to write with proper grammar. It should be "master teacher's" and "by reformulating it."
Touché.
