It's amazing that a child, just 5 weeks old, can smile. But that's precisely what Elianna has been doing on occasion for about a week - and today, she (sounded like she) laughed!!
My mother, who remained in town for a couple of days after the kiddush, came with Elianna and I on a walk today where we found one of the world's greatest staples inside a great Pereg spice store on Main Street: Rock Candy. Just thought I'd share. (Mmmm...)
Anyways, on to the roundup and another Elianna pic. It was another excellent day in the blogosphere today, with some posts that really made you think and others that made you cry - and emotion is something I'm generally in great control of. Enjoy the links - if you don't see a "continue" button, click the timestamp underneath.
Immigration Issue: Chaim has a brilliant post which sums up what I'd say on the subject in far better terms. Great breakdown of the issues and problems with the different solutions.
Iran:
Nephtuli notes what the morons on both sides are saying - and a great quote from someone with a brain.Elder of Ziyon has a scary post about the likelihood of Iran turning the Middle East into Chernobyl... by having an all-too-common earthquake.
Remembering Aaron: Elie's family put up the headstone (text here), and Elie had a wonderful speech ("Words for the Unspeakable"). Shira of On The Fringe wrote a beautiful and heart-rending poem about Aaron, based on what Elie has written on his blog.
*Video of the Day*
Mirty had another heartfelt poem about a young child who passed away in her community in Texas.I was hoping to find this last night and post it, but thankfully a few others found it and did it themselves. Thanks PT, Ayelet, and Shtender. Hilarious!!
Secure Feelings: Meryl notes something cool: Jay-Z will be rapping against anti-Semitism.
Random:
WestBankMama questions why she instinctively assumes a man is a thugging anti-settler based on his appearance.
JoeSettler notes how terrible US security is, because they aren't supposed to think... Trep notes that Israel isn't much better, because they're too lazy to.Wolf decries the idea that rabbis define reality. Spot on.
Enjoy, and have a wonderful morning!!
Sarah has more pictures and an update on a family member.
Steg wants to know what you'd want a Sanhedrin to do?!
Romach lambasts the words "I" and "me" - excellent.
Sephardi Lady says people should stop spoiling their children!!

Name: Ezzie
Home: Kew Gardens Hills, NY
About Me: I'm a 24-year old Orthodox Jew who works (too) hard auditing hedge funds for a living. I attended (Touro's) Lander College for Men in Queens after two years in Israel, mostly in Yeshivat Ohr Yerushalayim (OJ). I grew up in Cleveland, OH, where I attended the Hebrew Academy of Cleveland (HAC) before heading to the Wisconsin Institute for Torah Study (WITS) for high school. I married my wife, Serach, in June 2004, and our daughter Elianna turned two in March 2008, while our daughter Kayla was born June 2008. Serach has a Master's in Education & Special Education from Touro (Summa Cum Laude), and teaches a pair of mixed ed/special ed classrooms in Queens. We've lived happily in Kew Gardens Hills, (despite its location in) NY since our marriage, and love all our friends and frequent guests.

I remember the first time our oldest smiled. We had just heard that my wife's grandmother had passed away. That's when our baby chose to smile for the first time. It was a big comfort to my wife.
cuuuute! :)

What you got there is a cute kid.
No orange, Noe brown, No wine, No gold, No red, No blue (stroller doesn't count)...**shaking head in disapointment**
Yes, Yes, Yes a very cute little girl. Let's all thank the one above for taking the looks from the right gene pool. (I'm gonna get it for that one!)
David - that's really sweet.
Sarah - That's the idea, let everyone smile...
David - Of course it is! You expected less?! ;)
PT - No joke. We thought it was the first couple times, but then she kept doing it. It's legit! :)
Stacey - It must be a Cleveland thing!
CM - Of course! She already spits out her passy whenever I say, "Okay, Imma's ready!!" :P
WBM - My pleasure.
R2JB - In my unbiased opinion, yes.
G - LOL! (Yeah, you're dead.)
But just so you know, the colors of the napkins by the kiddush were wine and gold. :)
Lovely pictures of Elianna!
