Ezzie's Blog Roundup, 5/5: Milestone Birthdays

Tomorrow, May 6th, is the birthday of my father - and my mother's father. They will be 60 and 85, respectively. It's hard to imagine that either one is hitting such a milestone... my grandparents live on their own (thank God) and though my grandfather has had more trouble with walking the past year or so, he's still in pretty good shape for someone turning 85, and his mind and memory are all still there. My parents also live on their own and though my father has had more trouble with walking the past year or so, he's still in pretty good shape for someone turning 60, and most of his mind and memory are still there. :P [...even if he acts like he isn't] (Okay, I think some people will appreciate that bit more than others...) [time to shut up]

Anyways, Happy Birthday Dad and Grandpa!!

And now, on to the roundup (A-L):

*Post of the Day*
"Sam Smith" at BeyondBT on the financial realities of the frum world.
That barely beat out this post (thru Search for Emes) by FleurDeLis:
A Rose By Any Other Name, on evolution, racism, and so much more that is thought-provoking.
Blogging:
Gil's giving a presentation at the RCA convention on what Rabbis need to know about blogs (and which ones to read!). Wish I could hear this one...

Cruisin' Mom has a nice post in honor of hit #5,000 (well on her way to catching Gil!).

Irina has an excellent post about the shifting we all do in our reading.
Israel:
Daled Amos rounds up the Israel meme he started. Great meme, DA.

Ezer K'Negdo answers my tag - fascinating story.

And Jameel talks about Israel, the start-up.
Random:
AirTime has a nice day at the ballpark.

AbbaGav hosts the Carnival of Comedy.

CWY has a sharp post on immigration. Money quote:
But I would like if the illegals would show a little humility on their part. Ask for rights, don't demand it. Ask for citizenship, don't demand it. Reach out to the kindness of Americans- because we don't owe you anything.
Enjoy!
