The Love Machine

Happy last night of Chanukah!

A good friend of mine, Aryeh S. Love, or as we like to call him, ASL, has started a new website called AryehLove.com (appropiately enough). It runs the gamet, primarily discussing Sports, Movies, Television, and Jokes. I'll likely contribute there once in a while (and cross-post here, usually), and it should be a lot of fun - for sure for us, hopefully for its readers too.

Check it out! Warning: Mozilla users may have a hard time with it; even IE users might, though probably not. It's just starting, and still under construction - he's not using anything easy like Blogger. Anyways, it's time to go. My friend MathNerd who now wants to be called InfiniteBassur (Bassur = MEAT - Steg or MarGavriel, better spelling of Bassur?!) from Milwaukee just walked in, and we're headed to Dougie's for dinner - he just printed out an application to MIT, and he's really excited.Oh yeah - if St. Louis wins, I win the pool this week, too. That would be a nice Chanukah present - almost as nice as the football menorah my wife got me last year (which I can't use for oil, but it's cute).

Happy Chanukah, and happy new year. May all our lives be enlightened.

  2. LOL... Good question! Better one - what do I get her for Chanukah?! (It's been a crazy week, and what she really wants is not available around here.)

  3. What's Parsha?
Ahem, that's a really interesting menorah - I've never seen anything like that! The weirdest-looking one I saw at the Jewish Museum. It looked like a bunch of scattered eggs. An idea for next year: a gallery of menorahs, with each blogger posting a picture of their menorah and maybe a little story about it?

  4. A parsha is a Torah portion. In this context, Anon meant for this week's Parsha, or Torah reading, which has the story of Yosef (Joseph) revealing his identity to his brothers.

According to the commentaries, Asher's daughter Serach was the one who informed Yaakov (Jacob), by playing a musical instrument. (Usually thought to be a harp, more likely a violin.)

  5. Oh - some say she was rewarded with long life (some say immortality) for her action. My wife's name is Serach as well - not very commonly used nowadays, though she somehow knows 8.

  6. Congrats on winning your pool - ready for the playoofs? Maybe you'll write a post with your picks for the playoffs and Super Bowl before the playoffs start...

If the Giants can get some players back from inury, they could do well in the NFC.

  7. My friend wants me to write an article on the playoffs, so I probably will.

Giants are in big trouble, IMO...
