2008 Live Election Results Map

Via JoshWaxman, this is cool and reasonably useful, showing actual results (rather than polls). Enjoy!

  1. Totally cool.

Ezzie -- if for some reason McCain is winning, PLEASE call my cellphone and give me the news :)

  2. Looks like hamercaz.com is the place to go for up-to-the-minute elections coverage.

They have live video coverage of both McCain and Obama post-election rallies (from C-SPAN) where you can hear the candidates' victory and concession speeches.

Plus they have a 2008 Live Election Results Map of their own that is updated state by state as the votes come in.

And then there's also the usual election-related news and multimedia, of course.

  3. Turns out the polls were pretty accurate, huh?

  4. Jameel - I let you be. :P

JA - I don't think so. They were closer than in the past, but they still leaned left by a few points. Comparing fivethirtyeight.com to the NYT results, with polls then actual: (- means the poll leaned left, + right)

    AK: 56-42, 62-36 -6
    AL: 61-39, 60-39 +.5
    AR: 55-44, 59-39 -4.5
    AZ: 51-46, 54-45 -2
    ID: 59-38, 62-36 -2.5
    KS: 56-42, 57-41 -1
    KY: 56-42, 57-41 -1
    LA: 54-44, 59-40 -4.5
    MS: 55-43, 56-43 -.5
    NE: 57-43, 57-41 -1
    OK: 63-37, 66-34 -3

That's just starting going down the right column on the NYT results. Could be it evens out as you go through, but I'm betting not, barring perhaps some late states when it was known McCain was done.
