At the next UN Security Meeting, Israeli Ambassador Dan Gillerman needs to propose an immediate cease-fire in Iraq. Fighting has been going on there for over 3 years. The insurgents and terrorists show no sign of back down. Hundreds of non-combatants and civilians are dying every-day in suicide attacks and Army mishaps. It's time to come to a lasting and sustainable cease-fire. The democracy in Iraq has no chance of blossoming with this ongoing violence.Yitz of Heichal Hanegina is guest-posting at Shiloh Musings, and he found this letter to the world - now with its own video. Excellent.
Then, Britain and the US' Ambassadors need to stand up and say that that's a crazy idea. "THAT WOULD BE A VICTORY FOR THE TERRORISTS! WE'RE FIGHTING THE WAR ON TERROR, AND IRAQ IS THE FRONT LINES! THIS WOULD BE CRAZY!" They would rightly say.
Then, Mr. Gillerman would respond, "YOU'RE COMPLETELY CORRECT. IT WOULD BE CRAZY TO ATTEMPT TO MAKE A CEASE-FIRE WITH TERRORISTS. YOU COMPLETELY CORRECT THAT A CEASE-FIRE WOULD BE A VICTORY FOR THE TERRORISTS. THEN, WHY ARE YOU ASKING ISRAEL TO COMMITT SUICIDE AND COMMITT TO A CEASE-FIRE WITH HEZBOLLAH?"
Yitz (via A Simple Jew) also points to a sad, excellent short video. I saw this last year, and sadly, it needed to be updated. It will definitely put you in a proper Tisha B'Av state.
Oh man, I'm already salavating at the thought of Gillerman doing that.
ReplyDeleteMe too :)
ReplyDeleteOoooh, that would be SWEET.
ReplyDeleteThanks guys. Thanks for the plug, Ez. I think the US and the world needs to understand what they're asking and risking when they speak of a "cease-fire" with terrorists. Why is it that Israel is always asked to sacrifice herself for the sake of the world? These "cease-fires" and "hudnas" have resulted in more deaths on both sides, plain and simple. Think about it...
