Gift of Life Australia is giving you the opportunity to be able to save a life. The aim of Gift of Life is to encourage more people in our community to understand the issue and register as potential donors to save lives. Please read the flyer, call and make an appointment to attend on Sunday or whenever you are able to. Even if you are elsewhere around the world, contact the branches in your city to arrange to be tested and to find out more information.
As someone who has donated stem cells through Gift of Life, let me say that it is a huge mitzvah, relatively painless, and the organization takes wonderful care of both donors and recipients. All it takes is a cheek swab, and you can even order a kit online.
ReplyDeleteDitto to anonymous, except that I was not a donor, but my sister was (twice). Getting tested is about the easiest thing you will ever do, and if you are a match, you are literally saving another person's life.
ReplyDeletesarak: exactly. we are currently pushing it because since the last big lot of testing done here in Melbourne, a lot of the older people have gone off the registry (because of age) and the younger ones haven't quite replaced it. From that last testing those years ago, we know of several people who donated and saved lives and the person for whom we were campaigning went into full remission and is completely fine these days B'H.
