I didn't mean it's complete bull, but it is in the context of direct sales. And agreed on the process - we're at the awareness --> familiarity --> consideration point now, and we're doing even better than we expected, thankfully. It's actually turned into more business faster than we'd have guessed.

We should still shmooze, though. :)Ezziehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12494592434522239195noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13326001.post-13599829460234287782009-11-10T07:33:19.433-05:002009-11-10T07:33:19.433-05:00Your friends comments are nothing new. Massive ch...Your friends comments are nothing new. Massive change can only come from those empowered to drive that shift. This typically comes from two places: a market force, such as price, or management. If you're at the bottom of the totem poll, you are in a position to support and suggest, but not drive intrepreneurial change (entrepreneurial spirit from within).

As for advertising, it only works if you know what your goal is and if you have someone really good doing it for you. Awareness > Familiarity > Consideration > Purchase > Advocate/Cross Sell is a tested and true model. While it may not be quite as literally linear as it once was, the steps are the same. Advertising is a great way to drive the upper funnel. This won't translate into immediate lower funnel unless your goal was lower funnel (ex sales messages).

Advertising isn't a load of bull, and it isn't a golden ticket. But you're going to keep coming up short if you don't set your brand strategies, goals and KPIs (key performance indicators) in advance.

I feel like I should end this comment with a note about consulting services... :? )Jonhttp://jburg.typepad.com/futurenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13326001.post-1352073522517332142009-11-08T20:22:30.765-05:002009-11-08T20:22:30.765-05:00i think elsworth toohey would call his selflessnes...i think elsworth toohey would call his selflessness, selfish. he is helping the community to make him feel better for whatever reason.

this is one of the reasons i dislike the book, is that you can do something selfless and still be doing something virtuous.harry-er than them allhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07957506180776134351noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13326001.post-16935631832078310222009-11-08T11:41:05.991-05:002009-11-08T11:41:05.991-05:00:):)Ezziehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12494592434522239195noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13326001.post-8917351923604208702009-11-08T03:32:56.333-05:002009-11-08T03:32:56.333-05:00...peeks around wall...SerandEz, is that you?......peeks around wall...SerandEz, is that you?...AStudentnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13326001.post-21430240466908874252009-11-08T02:36:05.468-05:002009-11-08T02:36:05.468-05:00Meant to throw in the R' Salanter quote, but I...Meant to throw in the R' Salanter quote, but I'll just drop in the comments a status Serach's uncle has up; the R' Salanter one came up in the conversation:
♫ "Everyone thinks of changing the world, but no one thinks of changing himself." --- Leo TolstoyEzziehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12494592434522239195noreply@blogger.com
