I picked Dallas because it's a city we were considering moving to - the problem was not that the lower cost of living, but that there aren't really any jobs at all for me right now anywhere except the one I found here.Ezziehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12494592434522239195noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13326001.post-67451160445818757972009-06-25T14:06:00.496-04:002009-06-25T14:06:00.496-04:00Ezzie, yup a salary reduction, but it would also c...Ezzie, yup a salary reduction, but it would also cost you 69% less for real estate/housing. (An $800K house in Queens would cost you $240K in Dallas.)Add in the steep reductions in food and utilities and that $42K salary differential is not all that big of a deal. And if you check the calculator site it tells you that salaries are only averages--some may be higher or lower.

On $100K in NY a couple can't afford both the house and the tuition, not if they want to eat too. In Dallas it's doable if tight.ProfKhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17954446826821665314noreply@blogger.com
