The school I went to was quite tzioni, and pushed aliyah pretty hard from the beginning--but the harder they pushed, the more resistant I was. As the year progressed, the pushing let up, and I was able to just soak up living in Israel. Though all the halachic arguments in the world couldn’t sway me, as I experienced the kind of little stories you described I slowly became convinced that Israel is where I belong and that I will one day make aliyah. Those little everyday occurrences make all the difference.SJhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18085726186055340423noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13326001.post-1161631252031431642006-10-23T15:20:00.000-04:002006-10-23T15:20:00.000-04:00One morning, while on the bus from the Yishuv wher...One morning, while on the bus from the Yishuv where I live to Jerusalem where I was working at the time, we passed a garbage truck making it's morning pickups.

The driver was wearing Tallit and Tefillin...Pesky Settlerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03077745747562609723noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13326001.post-1161630246884426802006-10-23T15:04:00.000-04:002006-10-23T15:04:00.000-04:00So many stories... Someone approached me asking for Tzedaka. I told him that I live in Israel, and would go broke if I gave to everyone who asked for tzedaka. Or, I wouldn't be able to come to the Kotel.

He was quite pleased to hear that I lived in Israel, and asked me when I made aliya. I told him - just today.

Maase shehaya.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13326001.post-1161573762359240082006-10-22T23:22:00.000-04:002006-10-22T23:22:00.000-04:00Great post.
